The laboratory supporting the Montego Bay Perimeter Road Project in Jamaica has officially been awarded the ISO/IEC 17025 certification, a globally recognized standard that confirms the lab’s technical competence and adherence to international testing and calibration protocols. This milestone underscores the project’s commitment to quality, precision, and engineering excellence.

Jointly established by China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) and the University of the West Indies (UWI), the Montego Bay laboratory is one of the largest and most advanced facilities of its kind in the Caribbean region. The lab plays a central role in ensuring that construction materials and processes meet rigorous quality standards, supporting the successful delivery of this nationally significant infrastructure project.

The certification follows a thorough six-month evaluation process conducted by Jamaica’s national accreditation body, during which the laboratory met all technical and operational criteria without exception.

This achievement represents not only a major step forward for the Montego Bay Perimeter Road Project but also a valuable contribution to the region’s scientific and engineering capabilities. It exemplifies CHEC’s ongoing commitment to local capacity building, institutional partnerships, and the pursuit of world-class standards in every project it undertakes.
