On May 22, 2025, in celebration of Jamaica’s National Labor Day, the Kingston Airport Runway Extension Project organized a beach cleanup initiative, reinforcing China Harbour Engineering Company’s (CHEC) commitment to environmental protection and community involvement.

More than 20 enthusiastic volunteers from the project site and administrative office came together to clean and restore a local beach area, collecting debris and helping to revitalize the coastal environment. The event was part of CHEC’s broader Eco-Month 2025 initiative, themed “Building in Harmony with Nature,” which promotes sustainability and environmental awareness across all company operations.

Beyond improving the physical condition of the beach, the activity served as a powerful opportunity to raise awareness among employees about the importance of marine conservation and their role in preserving natural ecosystems. It also strengthened team cohesion and demonstrated CHEC’s proactive approach to corporate social responsibility (CSR) in Jamaica.

Through initiatives like this, CHEC continues to show that infrastructure development and environmental care can go hand in hand—building not just roads and runways, but a cleaner, more sustainable future.
