On May 24, 2025, President Luis Arce of Bolivia presided over the official launch of the initial inspection of the Sucre – Yamparáez Highway Project, joined by senior national and local authorities, engineers, and project stakeholders. The event marked a pivotal moment in one of Bolivia’s most significant recent infrastructure initiatives.

President Arce emphasized the magnitude of the undertaking, calling it the largest infrastructure project in Sucre in the last 30 years. In his remarks, he underscored the highway’s potential to dramatically improve road safety, strengthen internal connectivity, and stimulate socioeconomic development across the region.

The new Sucre – Yamparáez highway is designed to modernize a key transportation corridor, easing mobility between urban and rural areas and fostering greater regional integration. Once completed, the project is expected to enhance trade routes, reduce travel times, and generate local employment—while boosting long-term development in its area of influence.

This milestone event reinforces the Bolivian government’s commitment to investing in infrastructure that directly benefits its people, and reflects China Harbour Engineering Company’s (CHEC) dedication to delivering high-quality projects that support national progress.
