On June 9, during Jamaica’s 24th annual National Work Safety Month, TRANCHE Section 3 of the Southern Coastal Highway Improvement Project—executed by China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC)—was proudly awarded the “1 Million Safe Work Hours” certificate by the project owner. This important milestone highlights CHEC’s ongoing commitment to world-class safety practices and risk prevention on site.

Since the start of construction, the project team has fully adhered to the Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards set by both the Group and the Company. By implementing a robust “double prevention mechanism”—focused on safety risk classification, control, and proactive hazard investigation—CHEC has consistently maintained a culture of safety awareness and operational discipline across all activities.

This achievement reflects the dedication and professionalism of the team and has earned high praise from the project owner. The certification not only acknowledges the rigorous application of safety protocols but also reinforces CHEC’s leadership in delivering safe, high-quality infrastructure in Jamaica.

Looking ahead, the TRANCHE Section 3 team will continue to respond to the national theme, “Everyone Talks About Safety, Everyone Knows Emergency Response,” by advancing its safety management systems and ensuring a solid safety foundation for the timely and successful completion of the project.
