On August 26, the Montego Bay Project Laboratory achieved a major milestone receiving international accreditation from the Jamaica National Agency for Accreditation (JANAAC). The award ceremony was attended by Jamaica’s Minister of Industry, Investment and Commerce, Aubyn Hill, along with other senior officials and partners.
The laboratory, jointly established by China Harbour Engineering Company and the University of the West Indies, is the largest of its kind in the Caribbean. It plays a dual role—providing critical support for project testing while also training and developing local technical talent. Following a rigorous evaluation process, the lab officially obtained ISO/IEC 17025 certification in March 2025, underscoring its adherence to international standards of quality and reliability.
This recognition highlights CHEC Americas’ technical expertise and innovation capacity while reinforcing our long-term contribution to Jamaica’s infrastructure development and the promotion of sustainable growth across the wider Caribbean region.
