On October 22, the Kingston Airport Runway Extension Project Management Office organized a first aid training session with 26 participants from the management team and partner units.

To ensure high-quality and practical training, the Jamaica Red Cross was invited to deliver the course, which included theoretical instruction, interactive hands-on practice, and certification testing. The Red Cross instructors covered key topics such as basic first aid principles, CPR procedures, the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs), wound dressing and bleeding control, and airway obstruction management. Through simulation exercises, participants gained essential emergency response skills. Upon completion of both written and practical assessments, all trainees received official first aid certification from the Jamaica Red Cross.

This training enhanced participants’ safety awareness and emergency response capabilities and represented another solid step in implementing comprehensive safety management within the Kingston Airport Runway Extension Project. The project management office remains committed to promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring occupational health and safety throughout all stages of project execution.
