On November 1, after 11 hours of continuous work, the Panama Fourth Bridge Project successfully completed the first concrete pour for the east main tower foundation. Nearly 100 guests attended the ceremony, including José Luis Andrade, Minister of Public Works; Julio Moltó Orillac, Minister of the Presidency; and Ricaurte Icaza, Minister of Canal Affairs, along with representatives from relevant departments.
Xinhua News Agency published a special report titled “Panamanian Official: The Fourth Bridge over the Canal Built by a Chinese Company Makes Us Proud,” and multiple leading Panamanian media outlets covered the event on-site.
During the ceremony, Minister Andrade emphasized the project’s strategic importance: “The Fourth Bridge connects North and South America and stands as one of Panama’s most significant national projects. Once completed, it will greatly enhance connectivity between the east and west sides of Panama City, ease traffic congestion, and promote the flow of people and goods—driving economic and social development. Every cubic meter of concrete poured represents new opportunities, connections, and benefits for thousands of families. Today, we are prouder than ever to be Panamanians.”
The successful completion of this first concrete pour marks a major step forward in the main tower construction and provides valuable technical experience for future large-scale concrete works. The project team will continue to optimize planning, maintain rigorous quality and safety standards, and work toward the high-quality, on-time delivery of this landmark infrastructure.
