On December 3, the arrival of the first batch of fill material marked the official start of the main construction works for the Kingston Container Terminal Phase I Project in Jamaica, laying a strong foundation for full-scale project implementation.

Since commencement, the project team has successfully addressed multiple challenges, including unclear design standards, stringent owner and consultant requirements, limited external resources, and hurricane impacts. To date, site clearance and temporary facilities have been completed, design activities are progressing steadily, and several key milestones are expected to be achieved ahead of schedule.

This project represents CHEC’s first port construction project in Jamaica in recent years. The scope includes the design, procurement, and construction of container yard facilities, demolition and site leveling of existing areas, road works, power supply, and communications systems. Upon completion, the project will significantly enhance the container storage capacity of the Port of Kingston, further strengthening its role as a major shipping hub in the Caribbean.

In the next phase, the project team will continue to advance construction with high standards of quality and efficiency, while further strengthening cooperation with CMA CGM Group, contributing to the expansion of CHEC’s port business portfolio.
