On December 9, Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the Lakes Pen Industrial Park Project. The event was joined by the Minister of Industry, Investment and Commerce Aubyn Hill, the Minister of Science, Energy, Telecommunications and Transport Daryl Vaz, along with other government officials, representatives of the client, the supervision team, and project representatives—totaling approximately 100 attendees.

During the ceremony, Prime Minister Holness noted that Category 5 Hurricane Melissa had caused severe damage in parts of the island, underscoring the need for the government to further integrate climate resilience considerations into ongoing and future projects. As Jamaica’s first industrial park featuring an underground power distribution system, the Lakes Pen Industrial Park is expected to set a benchmark for modern infrastructure development and play a significant role in boosting local economic vitality once completed.

Looking ahead, the project team will remain focused on key milestones, strictly follow the established construction plan, and continue delivering the project with high standards of quality and execution, ensuring the successful development of a benchmark infrastructure project.
