On December 20, the NMIA Runway Extension Project in Kingston, Jamaica conducted a tabletop emergency drill focused on theft and robbery prevention. Participants included project management representatives, safety officers, the contracted security company, and local police officers.

The drill followed a structured scenario covering incident briefing, simulated occurrence, emergency reporting, activation of response plans, incident handling, and post-exercise evaluation. The exercise simulated a nighttime intrusion in which two masked individuals breached the site perimeter and attempted to break into a guard post using weapons. Upon detecting the situation, on-duty security personnel immediately reported the incident and contacted the police, triggering the project’s emergency response plan.

The drill was executed in an orderly manner, with rapid response, clear procedures, and effective coordination, achieving the intended training objectives. This exercise represents an important step in implementing CHEC’s “Twelve Safety Management Measures”, strengthening the project’s preparedness to respond to security-related incidents during critical construction periods and ensuring stable and secure project operations.
