IN PROGRESS
Mar 2 Expressway
The Mar 2 project is the second largest Public-Private Partnership (PPP) initiative within Colombia’s national 4G highway program. Spanning a total of 136 kilometers, the project includes the rehabilitation and improvement of 118.3 kilometers of existing road, along with 17.7 kilometers of new construction.
As Colombia’s second national highway connecting to the Atlantic coast, Mar 2 plays a vital role in boosting regional connectivity and economic growth. Often referred to as Colombia’s “Road to Prosperity,” the project is expected to significantly benefit the communities along its route.
As a flagship overseas investment by CHEC Americas, the Mar 2 project holds major strategic importance. It has been recognized by China’s National Development and Reform Commission as the first Chinese enterprise-funded PPP project in Latin America, and by China’s Ministry of Finance as the first Chinese PPP project in the Americas—marking a milestone in international infrastructure collaboration.
