Established in the 1980s, China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd. (CHEC) has grown into a leading international contractor with a strong presence in global infrastructure development. Today, CHEC operates in over 90 countries and regions through its overseas branches, subsidiaries, and representative offices, with a workforce of more than 20,000 employees.
Renowned for its excellence in marine engineering, CHEC has played a pivotal role in the development of China’s port and waterway infrastructure and has also delivered a vast portfolio of major international projects. With one of the most advanced dredging fleets in the world, CHEC specializes in environmentally friendly dredging and land reclamation, offering innovative solutions for offshore development.
CHEC’s expertise spans a wide range of terrains—from urban centers and mountainous areas to deserts, swamps, plateaus, and other complex environments. The company has successfully delivered road and bridge infrastructure under challenging geographic conditions, demonstrating both technical strength and adaptability.

About CHEC Americas
CHEC entered the Latin American market in 1985 with its first project in Colombia. Nearly four decades later, CHEC Americas is a vital arm of our global operations.
From 1985 to 2013, CHEC experienced significant market expansion, securing projects across diverse sectors, fostering business relationships, and contributing to infrastructure development across the Americas. Since 2017, CHEC Americas has evolved into the operational hub of CHEC, transitioning from a conventional contractor to an integrated services provider, establishing a strong brand presence and spearheading industrial development.
CHEC is currently present in over 18 countries across the region, with its Panama branch serving as the regional office since 2015. To date, CHEC Americas has an active contract portfolio exceeding 9 billion dollars. Our impact goes beyond infrastructure—we help transform the region’s economic and social fabric.
